Yoga San Carlos is a website designed to provide information on yoga classes, workshops and activities in the San Carlos area specifically for your health and well being.  San Carlos has many healthy living options and is a growing community.  Please check out all of the pages on the web-site to see more.

ue (Susana) Francis, CYT, SAN CARLOS ATHLETIC CLUB.  Completed 240 Yoga Teacher Training hours.  Meeting international standards for Yoga teacher training, Yoga teacher ethics, and continuing education in the Anatomy of Yoga.  Completed studies in Yoga philosophy & methodology, Assisting with Alignment, as well as studies in meditation, relaxation, pranyama and chakras.  I have lived in San Carlos for the past 6 years, and currently split my time between San Carlos and Alamos, Sonora.  Yoga has been a part of my life for many years. It has helped my mind and body stay flexible, helped me recover from injuries quickly & safely and is a gift I will enjoy for the rest of my life.   I am married to Phil and have a 7 year old Newfoundland, Birdie.   I am originally from Indiana where I earned my Bachelor of Science from Indiana University.  I have had the pleasure to live and work all over the United States ; New Jersey, Washington, New Mexico, Oregon and Arizona before moving to Mexico.
    

Kathy Bereza, CYT, RYT, SAN CARLOS ATHLETIC CLUB & SAN CARLOS GYM.  Kathy Bereza has lived in San Carlos for the past 4 years with her husband Omar.  She is originally from Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan.  Kathy loves the sciences and the art of yoga and has been involved with San Carlos yoga for over 3 years now.  She received her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification at the prestigious Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Massachusetts .  Kathy truly enjoys practicing yoga with such a supportive and joyful group of people here in San Carlos.  Her classes on Yoga Nidra are unique here in San Carlos.   If you are interested in beginning yoga or have individual needs, Kathy is also available for private lessons.  You can contact Kathy directly @ kathybereza@hotmail.com.

Skip Wood CYT, SAN CARLOS GYM (formerly Tony's Gym).  Skip has lived in San Carlos for many years and has been enjoying the benefits of Yoga for the past 5 years.  He credits his complete recovery from trauma injuries to the regular practice of yoga and has improved his golf game by 5 strokes in the past few years due to yoga.  Skip worked in the ski industry for many years as an instructor and Ski School Director.  He also worked with Outdoor Schools (similar to Outward Bound) for many years teaching rock climbing and wilderness skills.  Skip was certified in 2010 at Asmi Yoga School in Bend, OR and was proud to be the oldest instructor to graduate.  See our Yoga Spotlight Jan 2011 for Skips complete story.

Alexandra Chavez Ruffo, YOGA CAMINITO:  "I love teaching, it gives me great satisfaction to help people find their path (caminito) in Yoga.  Yoga for me is a lifestyle that reflects on your daily actions and well being.  I teach my classes in a gentle yet very effective approach to the Iyengar method, incorporating restorative and therapeutic aspects of Yoga".  Alexandra has completed 400 hours Yoga Teacher Certification at the Fundacion Hertha Rogg A.C. and continues her studies to get the Iyengar Certification.
Alexandra is originally from Mexico City.  She has lived in San Carlos for 35 years, raised a family and worked as a preschool teacher.  She enjoys making olive oil soap, walks at the beach with her rescue dogs, traveling and taking yoga classes "on her path".  Her studio, YOGA CAMINITO, is fully equipped with props used in the Iyengar method and offers a safe and tranquil environment to explore your yoga practice. 

Shelly Johnson, CYT, THE ENERGY ZONE:  Shelly obtained her Yoga Teacher Certification from Pacifica West Institute for Yoga and Tai Chi in December 2003.  She has taught in club, corporate, and college settings.  Shelly has specialized knowledge of Hatha Yoga and meditation to instruct all levels of practice.  She focuses on student groups with limited range of motion to improve motor skills.  She has the ability to adapt asanas (poses) to meet the needs of beginners, intermediate, and advanced students in the same class.  Experienced in leading tai chi for arthritis and laughter yoga.  Shelly is also a massage therapist.  Shelly and her husband live in San Carlos and are very active in all outdoor sports.
